Back in Actifeet family!!! After a long time I am happy to see that I am back here! Woow! 👋 👋 👋
Today it was a sunny, but windy winter day in Lisbon with occasional drizzle.
So I decided to go out with a friend of mine to the nearby park.
I did my due diligence and it turned out that the park is the biggest by size green area in presumably green city. Green even in the winter. Looks like 90% of all trees here are evergreen subtropical ones.
The name of the park with the observation deck is Parque florestal de Monsanto or translated into EN is Forest Park of Monsanto with a major attraction here is the Monsanto Observation Deck and the deserted former Restaurant there. Monsanto hills are one of the best vantage points here as you know that Lisbon has many hillside scattered around the city.
Monsanto Forest Park is a municipal protected largest green patch in the city. It covers an area of almost 1000 ha (10 km2). The well diversified tree-covered area was reforsted in the 30-ies years of 20 th century as prior to that it was totally bare.
The replantation of trees was carried out mainly by prisoners from Mansanto Prison Fort.
My friends, let me start with the pics from my trip today! Enjoy it!
I started up from Benfica Area.
We had to walk up a steepy hillsides and then we came across some old streets near the top of the hill.
In about an hour we reached the top of the park and the abandoned restaurant that turned out to be a top attraction here. You will see why 😎
We went inside. The walls were painted/ converted into a kinda gallery:
And then we reached our goal. Best observation spot in Lisbon! 😉 🇵🇹
And that's where I will go next week. The " Lisbon's Golden Gate Bridge with the Jesus Christ Statue"
We spent here about 30 min and as it was getting darker, so this time we decided to take another way to go down the hill.
My last pic. Going through a borough nestled in the park with the typical old styled Portuguese hauses.
Thanks guys for stopping by!!!
