How do people adapt to different countries time zones when they travel abroad?

I know that because the sun rotates, the time of day in a particular country will be totally different from the time of the day in another country.

Like in Nigeria and in US for example. If it is morning in Nigeria, it is midnight in the US. So am wondering how people get to adapt to the time change when they travel abroad, especially to countries where the time zone is sharply different like Nigeria and US.

I have never traveled overseas yet, so I don't know and that is why I am asking this question to those who have experienced this.
