The doll

The doll

For hours he sat in his car observing the farmhouse. Although he knew it was part of his job he felt more like a peeping John. Hours passed by and he only left his car once to pee and stretch his legs. His car was fine for driving short distances but not for hours of surveillance. From behind the bushes he kept an eye at the house and the motorcycle parked in front of one of the windows. Not once a light was switched on and he wondered how the man could find his way inside. Was he familiar with it? Was it his family home? He tried to remember if Mrs. Gordon told when she moved into the street but as far as he knew she had always lived there. She had seen many arrive and leave again.
The volume of an engine sounded through the air. The motorcycle left. It's driver didn't seem to be aware of the man hiding.

The farmhouse was empty. From the inside , it looked as abandoned as from the outside. With the help of his cellphone's flashlight, he searched room by room. If the door wouldn't be left open he most likely never seen the small room at the back of the storage room. A room without a window, just a bed, and a side table. On the bed, he found a plastic bag containing a doll, wraps of a peanut chocolate bar, and a note that said: "Deliver to the owner".
This can only mean the little girl is alive and the writer has no idea where she is. Carefully he carried the bag with him to his car. He had a good feeling about the missing child. The bag wasn't only evidence but DNA could be found on it as well plus he had noted the biggest part of the license plate of the motorcycle. If that girl was alive he would find her. Ben felt satisfied and so did the cyclist as he saw the car drive away.

My entry I needed a bit more writing time because of the disturbance.
