Having access to all this information makes me realise how impossible it is for the human being to get their position in life right.
in fact, often times potentially a hinderance to the next person along as we live in our screen blinkered life being spoon fed the next strapline seo friendly and a/b split tested reaction headline.
As my little stoic book says this morning (go to the bottom of this post for a link to amazon) it’s important to protect that ‘peace of mind’ — it’s really difficult I’ve found in this era to keep that mind feeling at peace and it’s most certainly a skill to find that balance.
> “keep constant guard over your perceptions, for it is no small thing you are protecting, but your respect, trustworthiness and steadiness, peace of mind, freedom from pain and fear , in a word your freedom. For what would you sell these things?” — Epictetus, Discourses, 4.3.6b-8
Kinda difficult to do that in an augment reality world where people are HD deep faking both audio and video — if we go so low latency that there is no perceived lag or latency and our screens are as high definition as our eyes will we even notice the embers of our real world failing.
Do we even now?
Our attention span has HD quality for throw away content and our world view of the planet and nature is still stuck in SD (standard definition)
Whilst I may applaud the democratisation of value exchange with all these wonderful digital crypto tools backed by real world mathematics it does remove the human emotive soul of what it truly is to feel as a human being if everything is just a calibrated scoring index.
Still, there is lots to be excited for right? Fusion reactors, sustainable living and recycling wonders not yet applied, the race continues, it’s up to the human spirit to want it enough not to be roller coasted into oblivion by laying down track as we go.
Fail fast, build in daily rituals to be in discovery and promiscuous mode about life, calibrate often, if you have more, share, if you have less, earn more of it, smile wide and open up those retinas to the beauty of what you are privy too on an hour basis.
Have a lovely meerkat wednesday,
Look left, look right, cross the road.
i read a page a day from this fantastic book that i'm reading everyday this year (2020) -- it's been really useful to hone my thoughts and have words to put order to the mental chaos -- i thought it would be a dip in book but it's more than that (amazon affiliate link btw) ____ humble X
