SteemPower Investments Club - How the club will conduct investment voting and what our first vote will be

Hello everyone, i hope you are are all having a wonderful start to your week. Today i will be mostly talking about how SPI club members will be voting for our next investment. This was always the plan from the beginning and with over 21 confirmed club members, the time to start SPI club voting is now. Our first off platform investment is complete and it's time to start planning the next. First off we need to to decide how much? and then we need to decide what? and but firstly, how?
Steem powered investments @spinvest has been set up to offer an investment fund based on funding from STEEM POWER. Investments are funded through extracting value out of STEEM POWER and taking advantage of STEEM's high inflation rate. The aim is not to get rich quick; the aim is to build a safe portfolio of investments that will stand the test of time while insuring all investors starting capital is not at risk. Full details can be found here

How SPI club voting will happen

First off you need to be SPI club member to have voting rights Full details are below in the information section. It very simple, required are you own 10 SPI tokens and make a post to confirm you agree to the SPI partnership agreement.

When a SPI club vote comes up, it will be posted from the @spinvest account and last for 1 week. Each SPI club voting post will include to the best of my ability biased information and options for club members to make a selection. Members are encouraged to read all information provided and do their own research when required before casting their vote.

Voting will take place in the comments section. If for example there are 3 options to vote on, @spinvest will make 3 comments, a comment for each option, lets call them A,B AND C. If you wanted to vote on option C, you would leave a reply to @spinvest's option C comment. When the post reaches payout after 7 days, votes will be added to include voting weights and results posted on the same post.
A new channel on the SPI discord server will be created to display SPI club voting posts. This channel will only display active votes and will provide a 1 stop spot for members to check into and not miss any club votes.

In steps

- A post will be released from the @spinvest account including details of what it is to be voted on and what options members have to pick from.
- Members are required to read the information provided and do additional research when required.
- Make your vote based on what you think is best for the SPI club (never vote for the sake of voting)
- Voting will last until post payout
- Votes are counted and the winning option will be edited into the (same) voting post to keep everything together.

Please also remember the weighted voted system that the SPI club has in place. Rule 11 of the rules section.

Current Off Platform Investment

To date @spinvest has cashed out 350 STEEM earned from filling lease requests and invested that into Bitcoin. We currently hold 0.00567 BTC on a celsius wallet earning 3% per year. Its only worth $60 but just goes to show that the concept to earn from STEEM POWER and convert to earnings into off platform investments works. Bitcoin and maybe LTC is the only crypto the club has planned to HODL so any future crypto investments will be BTC are LTC. Reason being is simple, they have both been around from day dot and are most likely of the 3000 crypto's out there to still be around in 5-10 years. Low risk, long term growth is the plan, i cant stress this enough.

Next off platform investment?

- We need to decide a target amount to save toward in the @spinvest STEEM saving account
As we are earning earning almost 150 liquid STEEM per week, this target should be between 500 and 1000 STEEM. This would give a ballpark dollar range of $80-160. This should be enough to beable to convert into fiat without fees eating into capital so much.
- We need to decide what we are going to invest that money into
This will be the real question, what do we invest into? Do we start with precious metals, stocks are look into something that pays out a passive income that we can compound. I would like to stress that any investment made by @spinvest will have stood the test of time, no ICO's are too good to true investments here. @spinvest will only make boring, slow growth investments with the main criteria for selection being "will be be around in 20 years?" and "Is it likely to beat inflation?"
- When do we start voting?
@spinvest will release it's first voting post tomorrow. We can decide on a target amount to collect in the STEEM saving's wallet for our next investment. This will be an easy vote to get the ball going and to show the process.

It is important to remember that when voting on an option, your thoughts and reasoning for your selection should logical and with the clubs best long term interest in mind. Please never vote on something because it is the top comment with the biggest comment payout are because your friend voted that option and never ever, ever let someone DM you asking you vote one way are the other. Your vote is important and should be treasured.

I would say that, at this time point in the SPInvest Club's evolution, Gold makes the most sense.

500 STEEM is a bit more than 1% of the total right now (although that will most likely change over the next week).

Having 1% of the fund in Gold is a baseline move I think. While the historic returns do not rival what the Club is trying to achieve as a return, it is a good idea to use as a hedge at a minimum.

Stocks might not be the best move at this time no matter how boring. After a decade run, we are looking at a pullback.

Thus, my suggestion is to get a bit of a baseline in gold as the next step (although I would not be opposed to adding a bit more Bitcoin with the next two moves).

Gold are silver is always a good move and would be my first pick. Personally i would never buy ETF's are backed shares but personally i dont normally buy gold with over 100 other people, lol.

Stocks dont really interest me that much at the minute either. For SPI, maybe a fund are selection of 2-3 funds to invest into in a few buys. Apart from that, i can think of other stuff but not for small money.

My idea was to have say BTC, silver, gold, 1-2 stocks funds, some form of p2p lending we can compound down and when we are earning like $500+ per month, we can rotate around these investments building them all up slowly. Of course, that is not set in stone but a rough idea of what i was thinking.

As for BTC, it's internet gold and i just said. Gold is always a good buy :)

I've just voted for the amount to invest.
I'm putting this comment here so I don't distract from the voting post :)
I like the sound of gold, too. It would be good to understand the process as an investor, and it starts to widen the portfolio of safe investments.
I've voted for the small amount and time - 500 steem and 14 days ... give or take. I think it helps to have series of small wins (investments) happening fairly quickly in the early days to build confidence and help keep everyone interested and engaged. It's more exciting :)
It's a smaller risk while we're learning how to organise as a club.
