THE SACRIFICE OF A CLEAN HEART

One good you will do to yourself is for you to seek to emphasize on what God emphasizes on. When you try to relegate God’s emphasis to the background, seeking to entrench what you feel it ought to be; you will definitely be seen to be misfiring. This is a race we’ve been called to run and the One Who has graciously called us, has His rules laid down and absolute conformity is required of us.

God; speaking to the Israelites by the mouth of Jeremiah proclaimed – “For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water” Jeremiah 2:13.

Suffice you to know; that, serving God has to be at God’s terms and not ours. Scriptures affirm – “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this sea, the Lord knoweth them that are His. And let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity” 2 Timothy 2:19.

Every form of acceptable service take bearing from what God has approved for us. Seeking to have it otherwise will do you no good. In your eagerness to be of service unto God; you will do well by seeking to know what He has ordained for you.

In the verse preceding Psalm 51:17; David told the Lord – “For thou desireth not sacrifice; else would I give it: Thou delightest not in burnt offering”. It is not really that He doesn’t desire our sacrifices and burnt offerings; but, it shouldn’t be at the expense of a clean heart.

God appreciates the enormous service you strive and seek to render unto Him; but, the state of your heart is of primary interest to Him. He will not bypass the state of your heart to clinch unto your service.

You may be a gifted choir leader with awesome manifestations as you minister; but, God looks beyond your gifting, He looks into the content of your heart. He longs to see the motives of your heart. With a heart full of all manner of evil; adultery, malice and lasciviousness, you may gain the applause of men as you sing, but heaven shuts off against you, because God looks at the heart.
