Probably a type of stinkhorn mushroom, the common name is red cage fungi.

this is mushroom... I suppose pretty smelly (must be smelling like a rotten corpse, to attract flies). take more pics -- it has amazing outlook!
one of its names is 'witches heart' - you can google out more pics of it.
may I recommend you to use #fungifriday tag for this? more people will see your beautiful pics this way.

Latin name is Clathrus ruber, pretty cool specimen you found, i bet you could grow some nice edible mushrooms in that garden.
