Progress report 2019/08/21


In the past week we had lots of small developments in the game, mostly in the coding department so there's not much visual changes to show. but here's a summary of what's going on:

  • The character class got an overhaul and now it's much easier to add a new character to the game.
  • The inventory got an overhaul as well, new functions are added to hammer out few bugs and simplify the item processing.
  • The battle system got some needed attention, I added the base needed to switch the fighters image or animation during the fight.
  • Few files got moved around, now it's possible to create characters that own items and spells from the start without getting an error and crash.
  • Started working on the equipment screen.
  • The intro is getting another pass of edits, the character expressions are being added.
  • The game starts with a small thorn gathering mini-game now. it makes much more sense this way.
  • Those pesky "work in progress" screens are being replaced with proper chunks of story.
  • A new position for storyboard artist have opened to replace my ugly placeholders with animation storyboard style placeholders. I'm negotiating with few artists.
  • We have more volunteers on board that I'll introduce in time.
  • I've been writing the documentations like a mad man, soon we will have a full guide on where to find the files and how to add to the game for our developers.
