Hey all,it’s Friday night and time for me to post another blog! With it being Friday night and all, I was supposed tto have
a date tday but it got cancelled. So I figured I might as well take myself out and went to go see the nw Star Wars
movie. And tthe whole time I’m thinking “What a I watching? The Rise of Deus Ex Machina? Oh look! They just happened to trip over exactly what they need again!” Also I totally called part of the ending after the last movie. But honestly I don’t want to sit here and talk shit about it, because it’s kind of pretentious to hate on other people’s art. I certainly haven’t written anything better, yet. There was one good emotional scene that got me choked up a bit. And the ending was pretty epic, in mindless action movie terms. All in all just not my favorite Star Wars movie. But at least I talked to a lady on the bus ride home who seemed interested. I might be too if she didn’t smell so much like cigarettes and desperation.
Anyway, that’s not what I wanted to talk about tonight. The song Zombies by The Cranberries seems appropriate these days. Since there seems to be a spike in rich people trying to convince poor people to go and kill other poor people and tak over their land so our corporations can come in and steal their natural resources. They’re saying these other poor people are somehow a threat to us, but I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t be if we weren’t such a threat to them. I mean, how would these warhawks react if Iran had us surrounded by warships and military bases? What would we do if Iran was starving us with economic sanctions. What would our response be if Iran orchestrated a military coup against our democratic government and installeueen Elisabeth? ? If they even tried to do any of that shit they’d be a radioactive wasteland tomorrow.. I just want people to wake up and realize that war isn’t in their best interest. It is in the interest of a handful of wealthy people who don’t give a shit about you, and will be nowhere near the battlefield.
But the news isn’t all bad these days. The good news is that with the internet and social media being more ubiquitous, more people from different places are able to talk to each other and get to know each other. More regular working class people are starting to realize that they have more in common with each other than with the people who want us to hate each other. And maybe more of them will realize that nations and borders are just there to keep us divided. And maybe, just maybe, more of them will say “Fuck It! Before it fucks you!”
