According to World Health Organization, health is the state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not just the absence of infirmities.
Although this is not always use to checkmate ones' health as no one or few persons has attained the standard definition of health by WHO. If a person is not sick physically, we would say, he is healthy but this is not so according to WHO. We are only concern of the physical aspect of health and neglecting the other aspects.

We all know how health is important, because when one is unhealthy, to carry out the activities of daily living will be very difficult. That's why it's important to take our health seriously.

Health promotion and disease prevention is very important i.e doing things that can enhance or promote ones health and preventing diseases.

This includes:

  • Exercise
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Eating healthy food, balanced diet, fruits, vegetables etc as these will boost the immune system to avoid infections and diseases.

*Avoid stress

*Physical hygiene: Especially the mouth so as to avoid tooth decay, abscess tooth and other diseases of the mouth.
Washing of hands too is very important as the world is faced with diverse diseases, washing of hands before and after using the toilet.

*Environmental sanitation: Our physical environment or surrounding is very important to us as environment not free from dirt can threaten ones health. A clean environment should be free from dirt, rodents, mosquitoes as this animals cause diseases like Lassa fever, mosquitoes, yellow fever etc.

Prevention they say is better than cure, preventing oneself is better than getting infected. Then early intervention too is another thing to be considered, when there is a challenge to one's health, one should go to an health facilities and avoid using over the counter drugs because an individual can not tell what the actual problem is until he is evaluated and tested in a health facilities.

In a nutshell, one's health is the most important, an healthy person is one that can carry out all the activities of daily living so we should take our health seriously.
