Posting Your Entries

Post your entries where ever you feel comfortable, just make sure that we can hear your music! I highly suggest that you use Choon as your primary source for uploading. It makes it easier to play for the shows, and Choon is the shit, so make it happen, thanks!

Awesome! Hope to hear some more track entries from EMA artists 👍

24.07.2019 22:56

I think we will my friend 💪

25.07.2019 14:04

Awesome! I will be on the lookout for another great entry. :D Keep em coming!

24.07.2019 22:57

Thanks my friend! One of my favourite genres here 🙂

25.07.2019 14:06

Ok, it's not quite the genre I thought it was but I still love this kind of music! I had to learn some more production techniques that I had no idea about but today I've made great inroads to a track that hopefully will be classed as Psytrance (but with a Havey twist) :D

The next day or two hopefully will upload it to Choon and DSound :)

28.07.2019 18:09

Awesome can't wait to listen! :D

28.07.2019 18:23

Haha that's funny @nickyhavey ..absolutely the same happened to me :)). I learned that it's more Goa or Trance what I like and not really Psytrance - I also had to learn some new things and I'm still not sure if my track will be classified as Psytrance - hehe ;) - I am very curious how your track will and mine when finished ;)

28.07.2019 21:34

Haha seems we're in the same boat with this and last week @psionic-tremors 😁 I am looking forward to hearing your take on it too! Please tag me in your post so I can listen in!

28.07.2019 21:37

Psytrance covers such a wide load of styles, I think it will be hard to go wrong :0)
Definitely when you mention Goa. 20 years ago, it was all called Goa-trance. Fast, slow(er), psychedlic, melodic or dark - it was all Goatrance. Over the years, the style was labeled psytrance, and all the different sub-genres were 'created'. Goatrance is still one of those sub-genres, often labeled as 'psychedelic', or, here in Belgium, known as 'old school'. It's still pretty popular, over here, at least.

Can't wait to hear your track...

Hi @simplymike - thanks for your comment!
When I started my track and went to google just to make sure that I'm in the right genre I've learned that psytrance does not cover many styles, but that the typical bassline is the rolling bass. That means that the kick is followed by 3 16th notes, what makes the "galopp" beat. One can hardly believe how many youtube videos are commented on, that it is not psytrance. For tracks that I thought was psytrance.
Now that I'm almost done and struggling really hard with this gallop beat, I find out that somehow everyone has a different opinion, what the difference is between Psytrance and Goa..haha.

Too bad that you have not commented earlier ;), which led me to read again, what makes Psytrance exactly. In any case, I would have made a completely different and easier track (for me) - haha.

Well, at least that's how I learned something new :)
PS: I think my track will be up tomorrow :)

31.07.2019 18:44

In my experience, the rolling bass is used often, but is definitely not a requirement.

When I first read this post and was talking to @nickyhavey about what psytrance really was (it's not easy when you're not a producer to use the exact words) I bumped into this site that actually gives a good rundown of the styles, although it uses a different vocabulary than the one I'm used to.

I see you've posted your track below. Curious to hear the end result :0)

03.08.2019 10:25

Cool! Can't wait to hear what kind of psytrance the blockchains have to offer.

28.07.2019 16:50

OK, here's my entry for the contest! I had a LOT of fun making this, thanks for letting my Trance soul get involved here :)

29.07.2019 17:43

Awesome! Nicely done too. :D Thanks for your submission my friend! Ohh def make more trance-esque with a Havey twist :D

29.07.2019 21:31

😀 I may have to man! This one took me back to the early 2000s and better days so I thank YOU for the inspiration 🙏

29.07.2019 21:45

Another interesting genre to take me out of my comfort zone haha. Here is my entry :)

29.07.2019 22:03

@yamaagni, am I wrong when I assume psytrance is not new to you? I think you have at least listened it it in the past.

This was a real trip down memory lane.
During the last 20 years, i've heard the genre develop from 'goatrance' - which covered the entire load at that time - into psytrance and all its different sub-genres.
Your track reminded me of so many different things I heard over the years. It has some really 'oldschool' sounds, but you managed to put in some more 'modern' melodic psytrance melodies.
31.07.2019 12:53

Boom! Another great track from you man! Listened on Choon and on here! Looks like we both had a lot of fun going out of our comfort zones hey :)

01.08.2019 21:53

Thanks for your submission, appreciate it! :D Thought I already commented this.. must be getting senile or some shit... ahahaha. :D

02.08.2019 00:30

You have been rewarded with some SHIT! Take a trip to the bathroom to stake and manage your worthless tokens.
02.08.2019 00:31

Here is my entry :) - puhhh that genre is a tough one for me ;)
I just remembered that I should tag ou @nickyhavey :)))

01.08.2019 23:49

Thank ya kindly, very much appreciated! :D

02.08.2019 00:29

I finally got a chance to listen in and loved listening to this! Great work for your first attempt at psytrance! Looks like everyone who entered has dipped their toes in to the genre for the first time!

03.08.2019 20:59

Thanks again! This genre is very interesting to me as I could not figure out how to get this special sound with the heavy compressed bassline... I really have to dive into that genre a bit more.. 🤔

05.08.2019 19:16

Yes I had to do a lot of research too and ask those who were in the know as I didn't know where to begin! YouTube was a great help and I think I will be doing more Trance tracks in the future for sure! This whole contest has inspired a creative bug in me 🙂

05.08.2019 22:14

Really really sad to tell ya it's not happening here this round despite all the work already invested. There is simply too much going on in my life these couple of weeks which I have to surrender to and put the passion on the backburner for a little while longer :(

So it will be a late release but a proper one. Which I think I can live with despite my protesting ego ;)

However this round already did bring out some awesome new milestones for me personally in my creative process, so thank you guys a ton for choosing this theme and restarting SMA with such a bang these last weeks <3

Really lookin forward to all the entries out there <3

04.08.2019 20:09

Sorry to hear that my friend... hopefully time will be a better friend to you, ;-) And y/w.. glad you are entering when you can, much appreciated. :D Hopefully we will see you on the next rounds... looking forward to hearing your song.

05.08.2019 06:59

Ohhhhh noooo, that's sad @paradigmprospect, I was looking forward to your entry! I know you would have nailed it, this being your genre n all.

I do totally understand though, we have to set priorities in life sometimes, that's life!

I hope everything smoothes out for you in a timely manner!!
Much love aus Karlsruhe <3

05.08.2019 07:54

Oh man... That is really sad... I was so happy for you as it is your genre... Well I'm looking forward to hear the track one day ♥️

05.08.2019 18:38

Thank you guys for all the love. As soon as I let it go I felt better, and the there will be some free days coming up where I can craft the track to something track-worthy. Will link it and make sure you guys get an update once it is done.
Many awesome tracks in the round, great job all and congrats to the winners <3

08.08.2019 08:13

Just in the nick (Not Nicky Havey LOL) of time, I give you my entry...
Would have done it sooner but was on vacation (holiday) and just got back.

04.08.2019 20:37

05.08.2019 06:25
