Where on Wednesday: Eight

The beach with this one...Yes, that's where my brain takes me today. I may physically be in my office, sitting in my super-comfortable high-backed leather chair with my computer on and paperwork spread around me in a meaningful work-like manner, but in my head I'm at the beach, any beach, listening to the waves break, frolicking in the water, yes I sometimes frolick, and generally doing beachy-things with my wife Faith. It's a super grey, rainy day here today, so where better to be than at the beach, even if just in my thoughts.

Winter is coming to an end here in Australia and for most of us that means beach days as the weather warms up. Faith and I spend a lot of time at the beach as we live close to it. We walk, watch sunsets and eat fish and chips by the beach a lot, in fact year-round, however in the hotter months swimming happens also; Shark dodging.

Full disclosure: I'm not a massive fan of sand. I mean the stuff gets everywhere so it's surprising I spend so much time at the beach I guess. I have made allowances though and have some anti-sand strategies that seem to work very effectively. Faith is always laughing at my anti-sand beach techniques! So we hit the beach three to four times a week between September and March and at least once a week in the other months. The beach and being by the seaside has appeal in most weather though, even in stormy conditions I think. Watching massive waves crash on the beach during a storm is legit don't you think?

Below are a few of the beaches we've been on. These are beaches from Nice - France, Adelaide- South Australia, Ballina and Sydney's northern beaches - New South Wales (Australia). We have hit a lot of beaches all over the world in our time: UK, Europe, Asia and of course Australia and right now I can think of nothing I'd like to do more than be on a beach with my wife Faith.

Anyway, that's where I'd rather be and what I'd rather be doing right now. If you want to join in on #whereonwednesday just tag it in your post, on a Wednesday and away you go. It's not a challenge or anything dumb like that, neither do you get anything for it. It's just a chance to post your thoughts and maybe a picture or two.

Being on a beach sounds lovely right now. I'm in the northern hemisphere, so the sunny days are rapidly coming to an end. You're in the right place to be about now. Enjoy that beach when you get down there!

IN a few weeks we'll have pretty decent weather all the way through to April...Although January to the end of March will get far too hot. We topped 47 degrees (116) in January this year. I'm not a fan of that sort of weather. Still, I'm sitting here in my office, it's raining steadily and, whilst not cold, it's cool. So...Bring on 28 degrees! :)

I didn't know that. I don't watch the news but yes, tragic. I knew a storm was headed to the coast of Florida so i assume the same one. That's a beach I'd prefer to avoid.

I would also rather be at the beach, but I've been too busy to get there this summer. Sigh. Maybe next year.

Yes, thereโ€™s always next year...Until thereโ€™s not.

Love the beach! We were totally going to move to a coastal suburb (even if it meant increasing the commute) but then it didn't end up working out that way. So we'll just have to squeeze in beach trips where we can (I'll just have to make the drive out to the less crowded beaches). You're lucky you get to live close :)

I think that's one of the benefits of Adelaide...I call it the 20-minute city as mostly everything is 20 minutes away. It's not quite the truth of it but very nearly. Plenty of downsides to it as my post about aggregation aggravation will reveal in about an hour but overall Adelaide is legit, at least for a simple country boy like me.

You have a mental beach with you always. Is a mental beach an understandable concept? Oh, don't care, is or not, it's a thing now. I'm trying hard to be in a beach too. Or a forest. Mental forest. Or an actual forest. That would be nice too.

Hey mate! Yeah, let's make mental beach a thing...It's a thing now ok?

Yep, I'm lucky to have mental beaches but you have mental forests and lakes...Mental munkki's also...So there's an equally mental degree of mentalness in your life, as with mine. :)

Awesome photos btw. :)

I assume you mean the black and white one...She's an easy subject to photograph, my wife. If only I had photo skills commensurate to the subject...But I don't.

Uh. I've totally failed in answering comments. Again.

Your wife looks awesome and it's always really fun to photograph those people who look good in front of a camera. I, for instance, have a Chandler syndrome. Shear agony for the photographer and the model.

But you do have to take some credit to yourself too. The direction the light and the fact that the horizon isn't right in the middle. Simple things like that. And don't say it was an accident that the photo happens to be good on your part, it's a skill. :)

Why thank you good sir, I appreciate you making the comment...And no, you didn't fail at commenting...It's all good.

And no, you didn't fail at commenting

I better try harder next time then. Wouldn't want to fail my expectations at... idk... failing?

It's a good ethos. Failing more is the only way to succeed more.

Ah! That haikubot again! I will now retrieve to investigate how to count syllables in non Finnish way.
So that I will succeed in haikuing.

Also I should check my spelling and the words I use. I have no idea what I was trying to say with that retrieve word. Perhaps retire? That would be awesome if I could do that. Retire and investigate futile things. Life goals.

Maybe a beach-side bbq in December. Kingston Park down at Seacliff is nice. We'll bounce some ideas around at the meetups.

Sounds like a good plan. I know there's some cool spots down that way.

Ah yes, a beach is a fun place to visit, and be. My wife and I were just discussing beaches the other day.
