CONSEQUENCES OF VIOLENCE

Hello my dear friends and readers of PH today I want to share with you one of the issues in which I have served as an activist and I declare myself totally against "Violence". For many years now, I have dedicated myself to work for life and peace, I have a radio program called "in female" where I dedicate a weekly space to educate people about violence, human rights and equality.

Today our lives are marked by acts of violence that daily claim the lives of thousands and even millions of people. Today, more than a year after the pandemic, the problems caused by hatred and violence exceed in damages and deaths those caused by this scourge called violence.

#

Violence from every point of view is an act that goes against human dignity, which involves humiliation, abuse (physical, verbal and psychological) to another being that threatens his life and freedom, his peace and balance. Violence has no justification and much less any reason, my father since I was a child told me and my brothers a phrase that was engraved deep inside us and that over the years has become my flag "violence is the weapon of those who have no reason" and surely the phrase is not his, because as Cervantes said there is nothing new written under the sun, maybe he heard it and made it his own, the fact is that I have also become a maxim of my life.

#

Violence manifests itself in many ways and depending on the type of aggression of which we may be victims, the damage or consequence in our existence will be treated, violence does not always start with physical aggression, many times it is a long cycle, which is composed of years of verbal, psychological, behavioral, legal, structured violence whose purpose is the destruction of the other until it leads to death. The origin of violence is rooted in hatred, intolerance, feeling superior to others and wanting to have control and a myriad of patterns that are born in the cultural and social, because although it is true that scientific studies in the area of neurology, genetics and biology have discovered a violent gene or a psychological predisposition towards violence, it is also true that the violent person is made and formed in their cultural and social being.

#

Now violence brings with it a series of consequences that have to do directly with the type of violence that is exercised on the other person and these are:

#

Physical Consequences: These are the most visible and are manifested in our body and organism among them we have:

#

Acute or immediate injuries such as: bruises, cuts, abrasions, fractures and others.

#

Serious injuries: They are all those that can lead to disability, blows to the head, ear, eyes, abdomen, thorax, mutilation.

#

Stomach disorders: People subjected to cycles of violence usually have a poor diet, either because of the circumstances they are going through or because one of the forms of torture is manifested in the lack of food supplies, which leads to serious eating disorders and severe malnutrition.

#

Death: The end of the cycle of violence.

#

Sexual and reproductive consequences: These include pregnancies resulting from rape, sexually transmitted infections (most frequently HIV), urinary tract infections, internal bleeding, fistulas (tearing of genital areas), painful sexual intercourse, sexual dysfunction.

#

Behavioral: People who are subjected to cycles of violence to avoid reality often abuse alcohol and other substances, develop a tendency to choose abusive sexual partners, aggressive or abusive behavior with weaker people in revenge or total isolation.

#

Mental: The mental consequences are those traits or traces that violence leaves in our mind and that irremediably affect our existence. In my work with victims of gender violence I must recognize with great sadness that the rate of women who manage to recover and resume their lives with a mentally healthy person without traumas and conflicts is only 0.1% in most cases, even when the woman manages to recover something of her life, a large part of her remains anchored to terror, fear and frustration of the violence generated. The same is true for many people who suffer other types of violence, for example victims of war. Among the consequences are: Depression, sleep disorders and eating habits, stress, anxiety, self-harm and suicide attempts, low self-esteem.

#

Let us fight for a culture of love and peace, for a place where we are all important, without labels or classes of people, where we simply recognize ourselves as human beings with rights to a life free of violence on equal terms.

#

And today, excuse me for having changed the subject I was accustomed to.

Violence can change everything about someone. Both the perpetrator and the victim.

Violence totally destroys both the victim and the aggressor, who more often than not, more often than not, was also initially a victim of violence.

Hi @emimoron
Violence is one of the greatest problems facing human beings, particularly I declare myself an active fighter against gender-based violence, a scourge that today scandalizes the numbers of women who die daily as a result.
Excellent reading, thank you for sharing it.
Regards.
