Who currently enters the Dresden Zwinger, is witnessing a very unusual scenario. What looks like a giant golf ball at first glance, which is hammered into the center of the baroque Zwinger ensemble, turns out to be the film dome Zwinger Xperience. Here you are virtually transferred directly into a historical scene back in the year 1719 by an audiovisual 270-degree projection on a 4 x 30-meter screen. For a small € 3 admission you can experience directly a program point of the so-called century wedding.
300 years ago, August der Starke hosted a 40-day festival marathon for his son's (Friedrich August II.) wedding with Maria Josepha of Austria. The highlights of this event were the planetary festivals at various locations in Dresden and thereby the Zwinger-building was officially inaugurated. Today, at the same historical place and with the latest technical facilities, a horseman's ballet will be presented to the visitor, with which August the Strong delighted the guests of his son's wedding in 1719. The animation, preoared based on historical documents, is also a preview of two further and larger offers of the "Dresden Xperience", which will open in the fortress Dresden from autumn 2019 and again in the Zwinger starting in summer 2020.
