Today,I'm going to be giving a little elaboration on the subject PLAGIARISM in regards to our blogging and content creation on this wonderful platform branded STEEMIT.
WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?
For the sake of easy comprehension,PLAGIARISM is simply the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work.
TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
(1). Global plagiarism.
(2). Paraphrasing plagiarism.
(3). Verbatim plagiarism (also known as copy & paste).
(4). Mosaic plagiarism ( also known as patchwork plagiarism).
(5). Incorrect Citing.
(6). Self Plagiarism.
Now,let's explain this various types of plagiarism# GLOBAL PLAGIARISMAccording to STEPHEN LUCAS(2001),this type of plagiarism is simply when someone copies an entire work from a source and submits it as his or her own work.
PARAPHRASING PLAGIARISMThis type of plagiarism simply means editing someone's work into your own words.
VERBATIM PLAGIARISMThis particular type of plagiarism is similar to GLOBAL PLAGIARISM. It is simply the complete copying of someones work without attribution to the original owner of the work.
MOSAIC PLAGIARISM (also known as PATCHWORK PLAGIARISM)This is simply when someone edits people's work from two or more sources and paste the final result as his or her own work.
INCORRECT CITINGThis is simply not giving complete attribution to the original owner of the work that you copied or attributing another person for another person's work.
SELF PLAGIARISMThis is simply copying your own previous work for a work you are doing currently.
CONSEQUENCES OF PLAGIARISM
As regards to STEEMIT,the action termed PLAGIARISM is a highly prohibited offense. Yes,it is true that the STEEMIT community accepts any content but trust me,when you are found wanting on the issue of PLAGIARISM,you will seriously have to go in for it.
You will be punished with no second thoughts for breaking the copyright law.
STEPS TO AVOIDING PLAGIARISM
(1). Firstly, you have to confirm whether you have the right to use such images and content or not.
(2). Note that if you are permitted to use someone's image or content and you really want to use it,you much cite the sources of such foreign contents and images before you post.
(3). For the sake of excellence,do not make it a habit to copy from other people's work. I strongly believe you can do better,so please exercise your mental capacities and capabilities to the extent that even if there must be a copying, you will be the one that will be copied from.
