Its Saturday and i learned about the @denissemata sweet Saturday and offcourse i need to tell her about the PUDDINGBROODJES as they are called in Dutch, and my cravings for them from time to time.
I think it's a Dutch dessert dish but i don’t know for sure.
It is a fresh white oblong bun that is filled with yellow pastry cream and sprinkled with powdered sugar. It is light and airy but above all very tasty. This is of course not good for my weight loss attempt but every now and then this is a must, great on the weekend with a cup of fresh mint tea.
You see the yellow pastry cream is all through and there is just enough to not think tis is a sandwich, the bread is just the beholder. I looked up the recipe and if you are interested in making them her it is, its for 6 buns. The buns you cut throught just before they are all the way through, and you open them up so you can put the pastry in it.
Ingredients you need for 6 buns are:
50 grams of custard powder
50 grams of granulated sugar
1 fresh vanilla pod
500 milliliters of whole milk
6 white buns
Put the custard powder together with the egg, half the granulated sugar and the vanilla pod marrow in a bowl. Beat this with a whisk lump-free. Meanwhile, heat the milk with the rest of the sugar in a saucepan. Heat until the sugar has melted. Pour half of the warm milk mixture into the bowl with the egg mixture and beat well. While beating, pour the whole back into the saucepan. Stir the custard well and let it thicken over medium heat. Pour the thickened custard into a dish and cover it with plastic wrap. Let the custard cool down and continue to set in the fridge. Cut the white buns on the top with a knife. Using a piping bag, spray the custard into the buns and garnish the buns with powdered sugar.
