🌿Boulder Sunday

bouldersunday ~ hosted 🌿@shasta

Early last week I was out on a mission to purchase four good used snow tires I saw listed online.
I was traveling through an unfamiliar town when I spotted this wonderful stone sculpture. I snapped a picture and bought a fresh cup coffee at the local store and continued on my way.

The rock sculpture looks like it was one big solid boulder and was cut into many slaps. Amazing.

The above photo is a boulder on my stonewall with a small stone birdbath.
To right you'll see a beautiful Maple leaf in it's Autumn/Fall color.
Winter follows Autumn. I now have 4 good snow tires available to switch over to when the future snowflakes start to fall πŸβ„β˜ƒοΈ

I love that sculpture! It's hard to think about snow. My head has a hard time letting go of summer, but it's definitely over now.

It's definitely so most hard to think about Winter. I'm hoping for a long warm Autumn. It didn't happen that way last year. Winter hit the first week in November and it was looong and cooold.

@annephilbrick I can not imagine having to change tires for winter. I do hope you will have a long Autumn. I wonder what kind of saw they used to cut the big boulder like that. Loving the birdbath.

@myjob
It's a yearly ritual where I am..πŸ™‚πŸ™ƒ. Tires are so darn expensive..πŸ˜– but having good ones is so important.
They have to have special saws blades/cutters for sure.

Yeow that is a very awesome boulder @annephilbrick! :-)
Looks like could be a waterfall when it rains on the stones!
Wonder the cost of that stack of boulder slabs! Be so cool
with some plants and moss with the water running down
puddling in some areas, bet it would make such a amazing
sound running off the rock! Thanks so much for sharing these!
I'm glad you got some good snow tires!! Just about time
here to switch over! Bird bath looks cool on the ground
with the lichen stones!

@shasta
I would absolutely love to have a stone sculpture like that here at my cabin πŸ€— !! My mind goes crazy thinking of all the cool things I could do and plant around it. I'm sure it must be very expensive.

Oh! Snow tires. I have some good all-seasons on and since I'm not driving these days they are adequate for the few times my car gets used during the winter!
Love that Boulder sculpture! And your bird bath, too. Our leaves haven't started changing yet. It will happen soon, though. !Tip

The all seasons tires are great !!!
I have to have really good aggressive snow tires to get down into the woods. My cabin is quite far from a town maintained road and even that road is not very good in the Winter.
Thank You !

Do you look forward to the days when you get snowed in? They do a good job maintaining my roads, and I sometimes wish for the isolation that unplowed roads used to give me.

Hello !
@melinda010100
I don't mind being snowed in and sometimes I am for quite sometime until I get to a real road. I'm pretty isolated without being snowed in. There is no traffic or house's near me at all year round.
Come Winter I have keep extra supplies. Even if it's not snowing and it get really windy I get big snow drifts that are often worse than a big snowstorm itself.

I'm a bit envious! I could very much enjoy living as you do. Wish I would have done it while I was able.

That is totally awesome annephilbrick! Great job of getting that one. I figured you were getting your sled ready and your dogs fattened up for all that pulling this winter!

@janton
There are times when I wished I had sled dogs..!!
Good snow tires on my 4 wheel drive vehicle does pretty good getting around. But I still have to do some snowshoeing. It really depends on the Winter and how much drifting snow I get at my cabin.

Does it ever drift over the door to where you can't get out?

@janton
Thank goodness it has not...!! My front door faces East. Most all of the wind comes out of the Northwest.
I do have windows in my upstairs loft. I don't even want to imagine the snow drifts being that high. I suppose anything is possible.
The gusty winds usually blows some of the snow right off my roof. It's like a total whiteout...when it does..!!

Oh I bet! Do you have to get on top of the roof sometimes, to clear the snow off?

@janton
I do have to do some roof shoveling. Sometime the gusty winds take care of most the snow load but I'm always up on the roof after it snows. I have to clean my solar panel off too.

Very true @janton.
It is NOT at all easy in the Winter. Can and often is quite exhausting. I know some folks romanticize it. But it really is alot of work.

Well the good news is that it keeps you in shape and more good news is that it's worth it. right?
